Like many of my patients, I thought that age and several well-known cardiac disease risk factors, such as hypertension, smoking, elevated cholesterol, diabetes and family history were enough to explain majority of aging, including inevitable heart and vascular diseases. Dr. Druz is board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine with subspecialty certifications in Nuclear Cardiology, Adult Echocardiography and Cardiac Computed Tomography. Carolina is a nutritionist, herbalist, naturopath and nutrigenomist. She uses science-based nutritional therapy, genetics, herbal and orthomolecular medicine to educate, support, and empower clients to take responsibility for their own health. She has first-hand expertise in managing stress and optimizing energy levels in corporate environments. She focuses on weight management, and prevention of chronic diseases and complex conditions, but it was her own family history that prompted her to look at the benefits of preventative lifestyle medicine for cardio-metabolic disease. She is currently undergoing her certification training with the Institute for Functional Medicine, and has trained in naturopathy, nutritional therapy, herbal medicine, Ayurveda, auricular (Ear) acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), iridology, Bach flower therapy and phlebotomy at various institutions, including the renowned CNM in London. Jacqueline Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Master of Science degree in Nutrition Science and is a registered dietitian, credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Jackie has worked in the field of nutrition for 25 years, has been a diabetes educator since 2000 and a certified diabetes educator (CDE) since 2005. Jackie is a graduate of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice® (AFMCP) as well as all six advanced practice modules offered by IFM, she completed an advanced practice certificate in integrative and functional nutrition through the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy and is a certified holistic health coach, a medical exercise specialist and a certified group exercise instructor.
